Why Client Photos Are Worth More Than a Thousand Words…
When potential new clients are looking for a change…from their existing salon…they often go to the Internet to do a little research. I mean, when you think about it, it’s the most anonymous way to see what you might be missing out on. And we all think we’re missing out on something.
Well, there’s no better advertisement of how a salon can potentially meet a new person’s needs than great Before and After photos of existing clients. It’s the ultimate talent evaluator. Heck, it’s even more believable than a boatload of positive client reviews.
More often than not, potential clients are looking for something better than they have today. They’re only researching new hair salons because they’re bored with the same old thing. Take a look at your website. Is there anything on there that shows a person why your salon is better?
Great before and after pictures tell a story all by themselves.
But, don’t make this mistake…
Taking lousy, dark pictures from a smartphone will do more harm than good. The pictures need to look good! So, invest in a decent camera. Or better yet…
Partner with some local photographers or makeup artists and get the photos done professionally. Look on craigslist or maybe even barter with a local photographer or wedding consultant. Don’t take a bunch of cheesy looking photos and simply put them up.
And if you can’t get Client “Before and After” pictures, just go for the “After” pictures. Sometimes, clients are reluctant to give you permission if the “before” pictures are not all that flattering. Also, when in need, ask family members or friends.
Also, be sure to also post these pictures on your salon’s Facebook fanpage. The more exposure you can get the better (no pun intended).
